A group of my softball friends started a new select team to play in the Austin area tournaments this fall. A select team is a group of players that have dedicated themselves to a sport to become one of the better players. Members of a select team spend a lot of time together, especially during a weekend tournament. We decided to have a team even more selective. We have formed a team of girls who are of like faith. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Our team name is “The Believers” because we believe we can be the best we can be when we dedicate ourselves to the Lord Jesus Christ and letting our light shine forth into our communities.

Our goal is to be all that we can be in *Ability, *Attitude, *Encouraging one another and an *Example to others. The bible scripture Philippians 4:13 is our motto. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” We believe that prayer is the most powerful force we have. We will pray often together as a team, especially before our games for protection and for help in being our best. We will pray after our games to give Thanks to God for the chance to play together.

Few teams pray or even mention God anymore. You can spend a whole weekend with members of a team and not even know if they are Christians. We are proud to be Believers, and we know God will honor us when we are not afraid to let others know that we are Christians. We are expecting a great season, and an experience that will help us grow to become even stronger in our faith, and in our abilities to be even better softball players.

Our first tournament is in San Marcos this weekend, August 26th, 27th. We need sponsors to help us pay for the Tournament fee of $150.00, Umpire Fees of $100.00 and our team T-shirts are $225.00.
